World Hand Hygiene Day 2024

April 22, 2024

World Hand Hygiene Day is held every year on May 5th to raise awareness of the importance of proper hand hygiene in healthcare settings.  Presented by the World Health Organization (WHO), the annual Save Lives: Clean Your Hands campaign aims to educate healthcare workers on the importance of washing their hands at the right times and in the right way.

According to the WHO, 136 million cases of healthcare-associated antibiotic resistant infections occur worldwide every year.1 Also, according to the WHO, approximately 70% of healthcare workers and 50% of surgical teams do not routinely practice hand hygiene.2  This is why it is so important to raise awareness about proper hand hygiene in the health care community. The WHO offers many resources to help bring the infection numbers down.  Visit the World Hand Hygiene website to learn more about what you can do to help with improving hand hygiene in health care.

Pilot Chemical Company has a wide range of products for use in leave-on and rinse-off hand hygiene formulations that are effective against combating diseases and infections.  Pilot’s Nobac® BKC USP is a 50% active Benzalkonium Chloride in a water-and-ethanol solution that is manufactured under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) conditions and meets the standard for use as an FDA active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).  Click to learn more.
