Management Biographies
Mike Clark serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Pilot Chemical Company. Mike joined Pilot in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer (COO), bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in the industry. In 2019 he was named President and two years later he assumed the position of President and COO. He was named CEO effective January 1, 2022. As CEO he leads the company, overseeing 10 locations and more than 400 employees. Prior to Pilot he served as Vice President – Organics at Sasol Performance Chemicals in Houston. During his tenure at Sasol, Mike held management positions in sales and marketing, business development and strategic planning. Prior to that, he served in management roles for CONDEA Chemie (later Sasol O&S) in Germany. Mike is a native of Hamilton, Ohio, and began his career with Vista Chemical Co. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Zoology and Marketing from Miami University.
Christian MacIver serves as President and Chief Operating Officer for Pilot Chemical Company. Christian joined Pilot in 2023, bringing nearly 30 years of commercial management and supply chain experience to the role. Christian has a passion for building highly effective teams that deliver exceptional results. She began her career at Ingevity Specialty Chemicals and held various roles of increasing levels of contribution in her 27 years there. She is an active leader in the industries and communities she serves, having participated on the Executive Committee of the Adhesives and Sealants Council, board member of March of Dimes and United Way. In May 2024, Christian was elected to the American Cleaning Institute’s Board of Directors. Christian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia. She has continued her education with executive classes at MIT, Wharton, and Kellogg.
Derek Houck serves as Chief Financial Officer for Pilot Chemical Company. Derek joined Pilot in 2006. His previous roles at Pilot include Accounting Manager, Controller and Director of Finance and Accounting. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Xavier University, in addition to completing the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School. Derek is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
Glynn E. Goertzen serves as Vice President – Corporate & Business Development. Prior to this, he has also served as Pilot’s Vice President of Technology & Innovation and Corporate Development, and Vice President of Commercial in charge of managing Pilot’s sales, marketing, customer service, integrated supply chain, research & development and corporate accounts functions. Prior to joining Pilot, Glynn worked for Kerr-McGee/North American Chemical and Univar for 12 years with various sales, marketing, and product management responsibilities. Glynn received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Finance from the University of Akron and Master of Business Administration International Business from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri.
Chris Leedy serves as Vice President of Business Services for Pilot Chemical Company. Prior to this, he served as Pilot’s Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering. He joined Pilot in 2016 and is an experienced operations leader with 30+ years in the chemical and manufacturing industry. Chris has worked for Henkel, Cognis, and BASF and most recently as the Vice President of Operations for Frutarom Flavors North America. He has a broad and successful background in engineering, manufacturing management, supply chain, and business management with a consistent focus on results, innovation, and continuous improvement. Chris received a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
John Manka, Ph.D. serves as Director of Technical & Innovation and site leader of Pilot Chemical Company’s Technology & Innovation Center in Sharonville, Ohio. In his role he is focused on driving innovation and new product development to foster organic and inorganic growth for Pilot. He joined Pilot in 2019, bringing with him 29 years of experience in the chemical industry — including previous management positions in research, technology and commercial development and new business development. John holds 16 patents and has authored and presented 21 external papers at the American Chemical Society, Society of Automotive Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers, International Society of Explosive Engineers, and the Forest Product Society. John earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York; an MBA from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio; and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Bartley Morrisroe serves as General Counsel and Corporate Communications Manager for Pilot Chemical Company. He was elected to Pilot’s Board of Directors in 2019. Prior to joining Pilot in 2013, Bartley worked for seven years in the editorial departments of various national magazines. He holds both a BS and an MS in Journalism from Northwestern University. He holds a J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Ohio, New York and New Jersey.
Catherine Ochterski serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Pilot Chemical Company. Catherine joined Pilot in December 2005 as Manager of Human Resources. Prior to joining Pilot, Catherine worked for Aero Fulfillment Services for six years as Director of Human Resources and with Standard Textile Company for three years as HR Representative. She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Michigan State University and Master of Arts in Labor and Employment Relations from the University of Cincinnati. Catherine also earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification in 2004.
Richard Rehg serves as Vice President of Commercial for Pilot Chemical Company. Prior to joining Pilot Chemical, he worked for Sasol Performance Chemicals, where he held management positions in sales and marketing, strategy and innovation and key account management. Richard received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Notre Dame.
