CalBlend® OG Surfactant Concentrate is 92% active product, while common flowback surfactants are diluted to meet cost metrics without consideration of performance metrics. Dilution creates additional waste, more inventory, more truckloads to ship to warehouses and the field, and more intermediaries in the supply chain.

CalBlend® OG Surfactant Concentrate  replaces the inconvenience of sourcing multiple materials and having multiple feedstocks in inventory. Having an economical, multi-component product that can be blended down to achieve prescribed active content saves time, warehouse space, and truck trips.

92% Active Blend

Blend CalBlend® OG Surfactant Concentrate to the desired activity with alcohols, glycols, glycol ethers, water or other mutual solvents, or pump downhole as-is. When using organic solvent, CalBlend® OG Surfactant Concentrate must be blended with them prior to adding water and tested for stability to determine proper mixing ratios to eliminate phasing or cloudiness in the final diluted product.  Pilot can assist in this testing.

CalBlend® OG Surfactant Concentrate  can be blended on location into a clean vessel using the blender tub and injected into an ISO or other clean container. 

CalBlend® OG Surfactant Concentrate  can be used as a high concentrate directly into the injection side of the blender tub if the liquid additive pumps have been properly calibrated and can handle 0.1-0.3 gpt flow rates.

Dr. Hanafy is a research scientist for the oil and gas division at Pilot Chemical Company. He holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Chemical and Nuclear Engineering from Cairo University in Egypt and a Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University in the USA. Before joining Pilot, he worked as a drilling engineer in North Africa for a major oil service company and as an assistant lecturer at the British University in Egypt. His research focus is on hydraulic fracturing, acidizing, formation damage, and oilfield chemicals for conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
