Pilot Chemical Secures EPA Acceptance for SARS-CoV-2 Claim for Five Maquat® products

December 22, 2020

Pilot Chemical Corp., through its subsidiary Mason Chemical Company, has secured acceptance from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to add a SARS-CoV-2 claim to the label of its Maquat® 86-M, 32-NHQ, 64-NHQ, 128-NHQ and 256-NHQ products.

Customers using Maquat® 86-M, 32-NHQ, 64-NHQ, 128-NHQ and 256-NHQ products for hard surface disinfection can now claim the product is proven effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, with a 10-minute contact time. Customers will need to update their labels in order to make these claims. Customers with questions about any proposed label changes and updates should contact Pilot’s Sub-Registration group at subreg@pilotchemical.com.

“The Maquat® 86-M and Maquat® NHQ products join Pilot’s Maguard® 5626 in gaining the claim for SARS-CoV-2,” said Richard Rehg, Vice President of Commercial, Pilot Chemical. “We remain committed to providing our customers with in-demand product solutions that are essential in protecting our families and communities against COVID-19.”

Maquat® 86-M, 32-NHQ, 64-NHQ, 128-NHQ and 256-NHQ are part of the company’s EPA-registered quaternary compounds and active ingredient disinfectant product line and are well suited for use in healthcare facilities and in a variety of other institutions and businesses, and available for supplemental registration. Additional new claim submissions are in the pipeline awaiting acceptance.
