LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Pilot Chemical Corp., based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and USA Luge have announced the continuation of their partnership through the 2018 calendar year. Pilot Chemical remains an Official Supporter of USA Luge.
The relationship between Pilot and USA Luge began four years ago and continues to be increasingly beneficial for both organizations. Pilot specifically works with USA Luge to provide support for athlete training and for the USA Luge Slider Search events.
"It’s a pleasure to be associated with USA Luge, both in terms of our company's desire to provide positive community outreach as well as in helping to make an influential connection between excellence in sports and excellence in business,” said Pam Butcher, President and CEO of Pilot. “Beginning four years ago with a mutual connection to ice (for Pilot, Ice Cold Sulfonation and for USA Luge, The Fastest Sport on Ice) we rapidly developed a broader and deeper involvement which further strengthened the value of a continuing relationship."
"Working with a quality organization like USA Luge presents a wide range of opportunities to explore creative and unique interactions,” added Sarah Mester, Regional Sales Manager and Pilot's focal point with USA Luge. “Over the next three years we hope to discover and fulfill many ideas that will benefit both of our organizations."
As part of Pilot's community outreach efforts, the two organizations will seek opportunities to use athlete school visitations, known as Win At School, to promote the value of science and a commitment to excellence.
“We are very grateful for Pilot’s continued support in helping us achieve success on and off the ice,” said Gordy Sheer, 1998 Olympic silver medalist and USA Luge Director of Marketing and Sponsorships. “Pilot has helped us promote and organize the Slider Search in the past and will do so in the off season. And we always enjoy bringing our athletes into the classroom to talk about the correlation between athletic and academic excellence. One can definitely help the other.”
The Win At School themes will include traditional science as taught in the classroom, with a connection to the science behind luge.
“We think that explaining scientific theories through the prism of our sport, which is highly scientific, will make a fun connection for the students, added Sheer.”
The contract between the two parties is retroactive to January 1, 2016, and will continue through December 31, 2018.
